Lot # 204
 Details
This 1966 Triumph TR4 A Convertible is a rust free vehicle that has been restored by the previous owner. During the restoration the vehicle had been stripped to bare metal and re-painted in its original factory color (red). The chrome is mostly original, some bright-work on the car has been restored or replaced, new soft top, new wheels and tires. After Classic Showcase purchased the vehicle, we completed the following: The engine was removed and reinstalled. The head was overhauled as needed. We resurfaced the crank and flywheel, installed new bushings, new timing chain, new rings on the pistons, rebuilt carburetors, new rod bearing set, new main bearing set and new cam bearing set, and rebuilt the oil pump. The gas tank has been cleaned, sealed and painted. The transmission was serviced and resealed as needed as well as a new clutch system installed. In addition the brake system was overhauled, new suspension rubber, and new interior including reupholstered seats and new panels installed. This is a very nice example of a true classic British sports car and it is also highly collectible.
History
Created by the Italian auto designer, Michelotti, this design was a more modern sports car body which would fit the chassis and mechanical components of the TR3.The engine used was a larger 2138cc with a horsepower rating of 105bhp which helped to make up for the extra 70 lbs in body weight without compromising performance.
