Hundred Pointers | The Jaguar XK120 and XK140: Performance gave them pedigree, legendary figures gave them aura, but lunacy makes them 100 point concours cars.

In the March 2005 issue of Classic Motorsports, the Jaguar XK120 and XK140 were highlighted for winning the most awards. The XK120 Alloy was a difficult car to restore due to its sophisticated shell. The car was originally intended to be used to highlight the restoration capabilities by Tom Krefetz, the owner of Classic Showcase in Oceanside, Calif..

The attention to craftsmanship, detail and authenticity put into this car in the 2 year restoration, garnered it best-in-class honors at several prestigious West Coast concours shows, culminating at the JCNA San Diego Concourses d'Elegance where it recieved 100 points. The car caught Paul McCollam's sight in the Phoenix auction as he was researching to add an earlier and rare alloy-bodied model to his collection. McCollam is also the owner of one of Clark Gable's XK120 alloy cars. Clark Gable is the Hollywood movie legend who happens to own not one but two Jaguar XKs.

Under McCollam's care, the car went on to win many additional awards including the best English sports car at the Greenwich, Conn., Concours d'Elegance; best foreign sports car at the Eastern U.S. Concours in Bethlehem, Pa; and best early foreign sport car at Meadow Brook Concours in Rochester, Mich. And now after seven years from its first 100 points at the San Diego JCNA Concours d'Elegance in 1998 this car is still scoring 100 points having recently done so at the JCNA Challenge Championship on September 2005 in Atlanta Georgia. A testament to the craftsmanship and quality of work performed at Classic Showcase.
