1949 Jaguar XK-120 Roadster Alloy Body

Classic Showcase presents the most dreamt about British super car Jaguar produced in the early post-war years. This sexy, racy XK-120 was presumed to be owned by the Hollywood movie legend Clark Gable.

Extremely stylish and fast for its time, it is not surprising that the XK-120 has maintained its classic status for so long.

This particular roadster is even more desirable because of its rare alloy body and is one of 240 alloy-bodied cars ever produced in the 120 series, of which approximately 50 exist today.

The bodywork repairs and restoration would be daunting to most companies. However, Classic Showcase's top specialists have the experience and expertise to tackle the project successfully.

We will attempt to give you an idea of the extensive work that was carried out to bring back to life this glorious and superb car.

A custom jig was constructed and the car was carefully fastened to it. The body was carefully lifted away from the chassis and further examined and evaluated. Our most experienced specialist started to painstakingly hand work the body into its original shape.

The chassis was media blasted and powder coated to ensure longevity. Our paint experts then applied epoxy primer to seal the body and followed up with one of the best finishes on the market today.

The car was carefully dismantled. A complete inspection and evaluation was made on the engine and transmission for rebuild.

The process began by preparing the crank and related components for balancing/blue printing the engine. New or rebuilt engine components were utilized.

The transmission was rebuilt utilizing new seals and gears. The fuel tank was professionally inspected, cleaned and epoxy sealed. The suspension and related components were dismantled and inspected.

Our craftsmen began the rebuild of all components: new shocks, bushings, hardware, brake components, etc., utilizing only the best original parts. All mechanical parts were stripped of their original finish and then painted the proper factory color for that year and model

The electrical components and gauges were looked at carefully and either restored or replaced.

The wire loom was replaced using an original style but not taking anything away from the original aesthetics. The gauges, knobs and switches were either re-screened, restored or replaced.

The steering wheel and horn push also underwent restoration. They were epoxied, sealed and refinished to an excellent condition. The best carpets, leather and fabrics were bought for this car and used on the top and interior. Our craftsmen then painstakingly stitched and installed the pieces for a custom look and fit.

The finest work and craftsmanship has gone into the restoration and recreation of this superb alloy bodied car. Few cars can recreate the excitement of driving a Jaguar XK120.
