Engine and Transmission Test Station: for all Jaguar XK's and XKE's

Classic Showcase Inc. has designed and fabricated a Jaguar engine/transmission test station. With all restorations of driver and show cars, the engine and transmission will be tested 1-2 hours, before installing in the vehicle. During this test we are looking for oil pressure, engine temperature, transmission shifting, and any noise. We are looking for any leaks (oil or water), and we will set the timing and carburetors on the test station. The first engine to be tested is a 1967 Jaguar XKE fixed head coupe Series 1 4.2 engine with a T5 transmission. This acts as the beginning of our breaking in period for components on the engine. This assures quality control, one of our main focuses at Classic Showcase Inc.

The Barrett-Jackson auction held in Scottsdale, AZ was well attended with over 250,000 buyers, sellers, and spectators in attendance. Classic Showcase sold several cars including our 1966 Porsche 911 which sold for $71,500.00

XXI Gran Concurso Internacional De Elegance
Classic Showcase's Tom Krefetz is heading up a committee of Jaguar judges for the upcoming training session and Concours judging for the Mexico Gran Concurso Internacional De Elegance being held in April 2007. On February 10th the committee will meet to discuss the agenda and strategy for this years Mexico City Concours. Classroom style training session one day, car evaluating and judging the next day, then the actual concourse judging and awards ceremony on Sunday. We will have more information and photos in the next newsletter.
2007 JCNA Challenge Championship, July 31st - August 4th

July 31-August 4 will be the time and Indianapolis will be the location for the 2007
Challenge Championship, JCNA’s premier member event. With vacation enjoyment

Dear Tom,I am interested in purchasing a Jaguar and having Classic Showcase restore the car. I want to have it painted in a non-original color. Does this affect the value of the vehicle?
This is a very good question. If during the restoration process we take the car to bare metal and change the color everywhere to an original Jaguar color for that year. Then this will not alter the value of the Jaguar.
Only the Heritage Certificate designates the colors that the car came in when the vehicle was manufactured. In Concours showing, they only look at the vehicle for the color of the car being original to the year the car was made.

Dear Tom,I would like to know your opinion on some performance upgrades and having an XKE restored with performance upgrades.
We recommend performance upgrades to E-types and XK’s for people who will drive them on a regular basis. The performance upgrades include 5 speed transmissions, aluminum radiators with cooling fans, Weber carburetors, brake system improvements, suspension improvements, engine modifications, and interior modifications.
These upgrades can be chosen individually and will enhance the performance and comfort of your Jaguar. These performance improvements were not offered when these vehicles were manufactured but are available today and worth considering as more and more collectors are looking to enjoy driving their restored Jaguars on the road.
So the sun is out and you're rearing to take your classic for a ride around the block again. Here are some tips on how to bring your favorite auto back to life and ready to take on the road again.
• Change the fluids. If the gas doesn't pass the smell test then empty the gas from the carburetor and change it. Also empty the gas in the tank.
• Change the oil and filter.
• Lubricate as needed. Place a drop or two of oil in each carburetor if they are SUs or Strombergs.
• Charge the battery.
• Check tires for safety and check air pressure.
• Give your classic a wash, dust, and polish.
• Get reacquainted, turn on the radio, buckle-up and off you go...enjoy!
